Gurugram to Get 15.2-Acre Multi-Modal Transport Hub at Rajiv Chowk With RRTS and Metro Connectivity
Gurugram is preparing for a major upgrade in public transportation with the development of a 15.2-acre multi-modal transport hub at Rajiv Chowk. This location, which sits near the mini-secretariat and the district court, has long been considered a key point for managing city traffic. With the increasing demand for better connectivity and modern commuter services, the Haryana government has now asked the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to create a detailed and integrated development plan for this site.
Multi-Modal Connectivity at One Location
One of the biggest goals of this project is to ensure seamless connectivity between the Namo Bharat RRTS corridor, the proposed Bhondsi–Gurugram metro line, city buses, and auto-rickshaw services. Since the proposed metro line and the RRTS corridor will intersect at Rajiv Chowk, the government wants the entire area to be designed as an organized transport hub that supports high passenger volume.
The plan includes a modern bus stand, multi-level parking, commercial spaces, vending zones, and dedicated pick-up points for autos and shared vehicles. Officials have stressed that the design must showcase the identity of Gurugram as a modern, fast-growing urban center.
RRTS Project Details and Timeline
NCRTC is currently working on the Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) route from Sarai Kale Khan to Shajahanpur-Behror via Gurugram. According to the revised detailed project report, construction is planned to begin in August 2026, and the system is expected to be operational by November 2031. The 102-kilometre corridor will cost an estimated ₹35,000 crore.
To make information easier to understand, the key details of the project are shown in the table below:
| Component | Information |
|---|---|
| Total Area | 15.2 acres |
| Location | Rajiv Chowk, Gurugram |
| Main Facilities | Bus stand, RRTS station, parking, commercial zones |
| RRTS Route | Sarai Kale Khan to Shajahanpur-Behror |
| Construction Start | August 2026 |

Government Discussions and Development Plans
A meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner on October 28 examined the proposal in detail. Officials agreed that NCRTC should prepare a comprehensive design for the full 15.2 acres that includes commuter facilities, structured parking, open spaces with greenery, and commercial areas based on urban development norms. This approach marks a shift from earlier plans where the transport department had considered only a bus stand and a bus depot on part of the land.
An NCRTC official confirmed that they have received the proposal from the Haryana government and that discussions are underway. A government communication issued on November 15 noted that NCRTC will prepare the integrated plan in coordination with the transport department and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). Any future development will require consent from relevant departments and landowners.
A Step Toward Better Urban Mobility in Gurugram
When completed, the integrated transport hub at Rajiv Chowk is expected to significantly improve public transport connectivity, reduce congestion, and make commuting easier for thousands of daily travelers. With direct links to RRTS, the new metro line, and a structured bus network, the hub will play an important role in shaping Gurugram’s future mobility system.
