Lodha vs Lodha: The ₹5,000-Crore Battle for Real Estate Supremacy

Real estate developers Abhishek Lodha and Abhinandan Lodha are in the spotlight after a ₹5,000-crore lawsuit was filed by Macrotech Developers, led by Abhishek, against the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). The fight is about the use of the “Lodha” name.
What Is the Dispute About?
Macrotech Developers claims it owns the trademark "Lodha," built over 40 years with ₹1,700 crore spent on brand building in the last decade. They say HoABL is using the name without permission, which goes against a 2017 family agreement and a stricter deal in 2023.
Abhinandan Lodha argues that he was allowed to use the name for businesses like Lodha Ventures and Lodha FinServ, but not directly for real estate. The case will be heard on January 27.
Who Are the Lodha Brothers?
The Lodha brothers are sons of Mangal Prabhat Lodha, a politician and businessman. In 2015, the family business was split, with Abhishek leading Macrotech Developers and Abhinandan starting his ventures.
